What’s this?

Hello, stranger! I see you stumbled on my weird little corner of the internet. I am Murph Strange, Wizard. I’m a magician, hypnotist, and programmer. I’m also a single dad, gamer, and spooky connoisseur. This is where I let my hair down, so to speak; where I can write about things I enjoy. Maybe things you also enjoy?

For example, I recently started playing Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, part of the new Castlevania Advance Collection available on the Nintendo Switch. I’ve been a big Castlevania fan since I was teeny tiny, and when I regularly played GameBoy Advance, this game was my jam. I’m excited to announce the old spell trick still works in the new release, where you active a DSS card pair that you have, but before the glow fades off, pause the game, go into the DSS selection screen and select the card combo you wish you could use, and then upon exiting you have that spell active. Yeah, still works. I’ve been calling unicorns to save my fragile butt from certain doom from the very beginning of my play through.

In other news, I’m aiming to stream some of that game play this spooky season. I’m nearly all set up to begin going live, just a few minor details to hammer out. I was going to start by showing a classic, Nosferatu, but sadly the only one I can find is a restoration that is still under copyright, and I’m not about that pirate life. Public domain has plenty to offer. Maybe I’ll do House on Haunted Hill? Can’t beat a Vincent Price classic.

I’ve also got my GameCube pulled out of storage and the dust blown off. I want to do a full play trough of Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem. All three paths, unlock everything. I originally picked this gem up for $14.95 at Walmart just after its release. I had only seen brief reviews, nothing to indicate the sort of cult following it would have later in life. I’m pretty pleased with that investment. We’ll see if I get to it, and if I can still stay sane while facing off against the Ancients.

You can catch all of this on my Twitch channel, when it’s up and live. I’ll post a link letting everyone know when to tune in and how to find me (hint: my username is drunkfurball, pretty much everywhere).

Stay tuned to this site for further reviews, gaming tips, and more spooky content from the mad mad world of Murph Strange.
